Traditional Afternoon Tea at Park Chinois

Park Chinois, the latest edition to London’s Mayfair dining scene by Alan Yau, evokes 1930s Shanghai where dinner and dancing went hand in hand. Bringing together elegant live music, an extensive menu and decadent Chinese decor, Park Chinois may have quietly taken to the stage yet it is already drawing a significant crowd. Located in the heart of Mayfair, the restaurant is spread across two floors. Designed by Jacques Garcia, the main room ‘Salon de Chine’ on the ground floor evokes opulence with its oriental tapestry furniture, red and cream draped walls and staff dressed in traditional Chinese silk blouses, while downstairs you will find the sumptuous ‘Club Chinois’.

Combining the Chinese ritual of tea with British tradition, Park Chinois has created an afternoon tea experience.

In honour of the British tradition of afternoon tea, the Park Chinois’ is served within the opulence of the dining room, ‘Salon de Chine’ and the ‘Orchestre de Chinois’ provides accompanying live music with featured artists. The team of patisserie chefs have carefully crafted a menu faithful to the classics of sandwiches with fillings of Norwegian smoked salmon, egg mayonnaise and Coronation chicken, freshly baked warm scones with clotted cream and sweet pastries, all inspired by the traditions of this ceremonious pastime. The fine patisserie and cakes mix exotic flavours of passionfruit and pistachio with the more traditional strawberry and lemon. A curated selection of loose teas sourced from the four corner of the world sit alongside a dedicated menu of hot chocolate and coffee from local producers.
