Secret Cinema Presents Moulin Rouge: A Review
A subsidiary of Secret Cinema, Secret Cinema Presents focuses on producing a truly one of a kind cinematic experience. Moulin Rouge, their newest event, transports their guests from an undisclosed location in East London to the revelry and excitement of fin-de-siècle Montmartre. Pioneering a new experience where audience become part of the performance, this is not an event for wallflowers.
After firmly sealing mobile phones into plastic wallets, push through the curtains and enter a new world. We won’t give too much away from this point onwards, but just know that it is utterly magical. From revolutions in the street to clandestine cabaret performances, this night is just as much about the pre-screening performance as the film itself. Guests are also allotted their own character before the night, allowing them to find their comrades and companions, and participate in spontaneous events throughout. Singing and dancing is compulsory.
In true Bohemian Revolutionary style, Secret Cinema has also highlighted the plight of 100 refugees by hiding their names around the set and encouraging social activism amongst attendees, supporting the charity Help Refugees.
After hanging up our top hats and can-can skirts, we wonder what is next in store for Secret Cinema Presents? Although the choice of film and dates remain undisclosed, we are certain it will be something spectacular.
