Top Three Dinner Party Trends

As the long nights of Summer dwindle, we at Total Management Group are looking forward to our favourite parts of the Autumn season. It’s time to shut out the cooler evenings and retire indoors – and when better to host a dinner party with close friends and family? This week we look at our favourite dinner party trends for the coming months and offer a sneak peek at our favourite venues for hosting them.

Our events team has spent a lot of time in Sweden over the past year and we can’t help but love this beautiful country. We’ve picked up a few tips and  dinner party tricks along the way to help in preparing your scandi chic event. First things first, keep the menu light and healthy; we all know that fish (often smoked) is a key ingredient in Scandic cuisine, but we’ve learnt that vegetables are just as important. Feature a mix of seasonal root veg, beans and pulses for your menu. Finish off your table with a simple design: try using ferns, foliage and fresh herbs such as lavender to decorate.

Favourite UK venue: Carousel in Marylebone offers a minimalist, industrial event space. Oozing urban cool, it is ideal for a Scandi-themed supper.
Style it up: Green is best. Head on over to London florists Scarlet & Violet for a subtle, seasonal design at your stylish Scandi party.
Favourite US venue: Hidden in the Catskills Mountains, this farmhouse’s industrial interiors are the perfect backdrop to your Scandic-Inspired event.

Without a doubt one of our favourite trends, and not something that needs to be confined to the Summer months, why not brighten up your dinner party with some British whimsy? Liven up a dark wood table and classic interiors with pops of colour from a bold floral centrepiece: we love combining fuchsia pink peonies with blue hydrangeas against a simple green and white arrangement for a playful effect. Dramatic ostrich feathers and plush, velvet seating will complete the look.

Favourite UK venue: For something really special, Aynhoe Park is the perfect backdrop for your event. Expect to find chandeliers, disco balls, assorted exotic animals and an underground nightclub behind its impressive façade.
Style it up: We love Bubblegum Balloons for all arrangements cute and quirky… who needs flowers when you can have a cascade of balloons arranged through your house?
Favourite US venue: Head over to this playful Chelsea apartment for your dinner party. Nothing screams whimsical like upside down bicycles and swings in the living room.

Sometimes you just want to pull out all the stops. For a luxurious look, keep things bright and simple. Your table should be accented by one subtle colour, so make sure your napkins, florals and décor match. For a Marie Antoinette twist, adorn your table with pale pink and cream tapered candles. Finish off the look with gold rimmed plates and a gold cutlery set.

Favourite venue: Why take inspiration from Marie Antoinette when you can head on over to Paris itself for your perfect dinner party? This lavish apartment in the City of Love provides the perfect backdrop for a high glamour event.
Style it up: Nikki Tibbles Wild at Heart is not only one of London’s best florists, but also supports the Wild at Heart Foundation, funding animal welfare projects around the world.
