February is known internationally as carnival season. As we welcome this special time of year to our calendars once again, we take a look at some of the most colorful events taking place across the globe.



Rio de Janerio, Brazil

Date: Friday, February 24 – Tuesday, February 28

Millions of people flock to Rio de Janeiro each year for what is perhaps the world’s most famous carnival. Over the five days leading up to Lent, the city streets transform to a host an upbeat festival, showcasing flamboyant costumes, Brazilian rhythm and exuberant dance.

Easter Island, Chile
