Catered chalets with sophisticated amenities have upped their game. As the snow falls across Europe and the ski season well and truly begins, we explore some of the classic and lesser known locations, where beautifully renovated and architecturally crafted properties are standing out from the rest. Whether you are looking for ultimate luxury, proximity to the nearest ski runs or, just simple and authentic experiences within a beautiful setting, The AWAY Collection’s Ski & Snow portfolio brings you a snap shot of some of Europe’s most enchanting properties. From a unique and beautifully restored chalet in the small South Tyrolean village of Pliscia where guests experience real ‘slow living’, to finding ultimate luxury in Verbier, there is a chalet for every taste and skiing proficiency.
The quiet hamlet of Pliscia is perched at an altitude of 1200m, nestled into the stunning Dolomite Mountains. Made up of twenty three inhabitants, four farmhouses and one church, Pliscia offers seclusion and privacy that not many other locations can boast. Surrounded by nature – from the panoramic mountain views, to the roaming deer, to the fresh milk which can be collected from the local farmer – this truly idyllic and peaceful hamlet embodies ‘slow living’ and offers a unique break from urban life.
This wonderfully bright and beautifully furnished chalet has been built with old wood and natural stones to create the perfect elegant retreat. Chalet Alpin is set over three floors and sleeps eight in four bedrooms: one master with ensuite and separate toilet, two double or twin rooms and a children’s bunk room, with two further bathrooms. The open plan living and dining room, centred around an open fireplace, is open to the kitchen and has large French windows providing stunning sunset views of Verbier. A large mezzanine area above the main living area is the perfect chill out space, with low comfortable sofas and TV.
Renowned for being one of the world’s largest linked ski resorts, frequented by celebrities and royals, Courchevel is one of our favourite ski resorts in the Alps. Situated in Courchevel 1850 (referring to its altitude), Chalet Abruzzes is only metres from the centre of this popular town. This outstanding chalet is organised across 3 levels (with lift access) and offers 6 en-suite bedrooms, sleeping a total of 12 guests. The property also has outstanding facilities, including a swimming pool with a steam room. There are balconies on the two levels so that guests can sit outside and enjoy the panoramic views.
Situated in the stunning Swiss Alps, the popular ski resort and village of Verbier makes the perfect location to enjoy a break on the pistes. Sleeping up to twelve guests across six bedrooms, Chalet de Ransou offers ample space for large families, groups of friends or corporate retreats to stay and play. There are five double bedrooms on the property, three of which can be converted to twins, as well as one bedroom with bunk beds. This luxurious ski-in-ski-out property has plenty to entertain its guests when they’re off the piste, from the indoor spa, including a hot tub and sauna, to the cinema room and the ‘wine cave’.
