Celebrating La Vendemmia
La Vendemmia, the Italian word for grape harvest takes place generally towards the end of September and October and in some cases for late fermenting wines it can continue right up until November. It is a crucial time when the grapes that have been cultivated throughout the year are collected in order to begin the ‘vinification’ process. A process which takes time, knowledge and several phases of hard manual work is culturally significant and marks an important annual occasion where the soil is truly celebrated.
Last year Italy was once again named as the world’s largest wine producing country, beating its French neighbours to the title. In the lead up to this special event we celebrate the beautiful countryside of the Bel Paese and experience the art of harvesting and wine tasting across the key wine producing regions of Italy. Visit Italy during this period to appreciate fully the ancient wine making tradition.
Tuscany
Famous globally as Italy’s major wine producing region, Tuscany gives its title to great quality and variety of grapes grown in its lush countryside. Here you will find mostly full bodied red wines such as Chianti, Brunello and Montepulciano.
